Seeking Interest for Temporary English as a Second Language Teachers at Naval Fleet School (Atlantic), Department of National Defence

NFS(A) is seeking to fill two temporary EDLAT-01 positions on a casual basis to start in the new year.

The positions involve approximately 4 ½ months (90 days) of work over one calendar year period.  Work will most likely be continuous, but could potentially be divided up over time.

If you have a Bachelor’s degree with a specialization in education, linguistics, sociology psychology, English literature, or a related field and you have experience teaching English as a second language to adult learners, this opportunity might be for you!

Duties of the position:

  • Presents language courses to one or more groups of students for a specified period, in a physical or virtual setting.
  • Prepares and implements lesson plans and pedagogical exercises; provides instruction to students using selected materials; may plan or contribute to immersion trips or socio-cultural outings.
  • Tests students’ language skills and monitors progress; provides regular advice and information on language learning strategies; conducts tests.
  • Prepares students for language tests by giving practical interviews and exercises.
  • Participates in meetings, projects and professional development sessions.
