The TESL Nova Scotia Spring 2024 Conference, “Strengthening Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in ELT”, will take place on Saturday, May 25, 2024. We are planning an in-person conference, with the possibility to offer some virtual sessions, depending on submissions received.
The focal point of this Spring’s conference is the promotion of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) within English Language Teaching (ELT). Amidst the challenges of recent years, we aim to exchange innovative ideas and strategies that have enabled us to recalibrate our teaching methodologies and program management approaches. From reevaluating language policies to embracing biliteracy and fostering inclusive pedagogical strategies, we invite contributions that demonstrate how educators have adapted their practices to strengthen EDI in ELT. While the transition to virtual and hybrid teaching remains a significant aspect, our goal is to facilitate a comprehensive discussion that empowers ELT professionals to foster equity and inclusion in their classrooms and beyond. While we encourage presentations related to this idea of EDI practices, proposals on all topics will be considered.
